Hear Ye! Hear Ye! By royal proclamation, Creative Discovery Museum is holding camp in the court of King Ben and Queen Evolent. Campers in grades K – 5 are invited to leave 2016 and enter the world of a medieval community. Young lords and ladies are invited to learn all about castles and the community that surrounds them as they construct new buildings, harvest crops, and how the craftsmen of the age worked to meet the community’s needs. Children will compare fairytale castles to medieval castles, and then compare castles to modern homes.

Come stroll through the woods with Hansel and Gretel this Snow Day as they explore not only the woods, but the world of opera, in this timeless tale. Capitol city Opera, an Atlanta-based troupe, stages an exciting show for the audience as they outwit the witch. The troupe has performed shows specifically geared towards children for over twenty years.

“Opera is a great experience and one most children are unfamiliar with,” said Creative Discovery Museum’s Arts Manager, Liza Blair. “Opera is a great way to showcase two unique art forms: singing and stage performance, while celebrating the holiday season with the timeless classic, Hansel and Gretel.”

Children from the audience will have a chance to dress in costume and come onstage to perform (non-speaking) roles during the show. Come help Hansel and Gretel escape the witch and return home safely!

Have a royally good time as you explore The Amazing Castle and its eight themed areas, and are introduced to seven storybook characters who are part of the castle community. From the carpenter to the seamstress, each character has a special role. As you move through the castle, playfully explore the interconnectedness of community members in a setting inspired by fantasy and history.
